Last weekend my boyfriend and i went to Edinburgh for a little festive trip away. Edinburgh is a lovely city to visit in December as the Christmas markets are in full swing, the street lights are sparkling and several bars offer a selection of festive drinks and nibbles. Try Harvey Nic's fourth floor bar - 12 days of festive cocktails (see photo below)

Another wonderful place is The Dome. Located in the centre of the main bar you will find the most amazing Christmas tree. An ideal place for a glass of fizz with friends to recharge your batteries before more shopping or the train home. This time of year The Dome is massively popular so i recommend making a booking to ensure you get a table in the main bar. There is also a beautifully decorated Christmas tree covered in presents located in the rear garden which is worth a look. (see below)
Each year the picturesque Christmas market stalls are located in Princess street gardens, a short walk from Waverley train station. The beautifully lit market stalls attract a wealth of tourists and locals wishing to browse while sipping on a mug of mulled wine.
In the afternoon my boyfriend and i met my sister for a late bite to eat. Having looked on tripadvisor for inspiration we opted for Yummy Tori. A delightful, quaint place offering a uniquely Japanese experience. The three of us ordered a selcetion of Japanese tapas and yakitori and of course some green tea...mmm!
With an hour or so to spare before our train home we managed to sqeeze in a trip to Armstrong's. An excellent vintage find located on The Grassmarket. Make sure you work your way right the way to the back as the size is definitely deceiving.
Lastly we enjoyed some delicious hot coco before bed...so tasty! What did you all get upto this weekend? Anyone visiting or been to some European Christmas markets this month?

Edinburgh is such a lovely place, but since I moved away from Scotland I haven't been for a long time. Maybe for Hogmanay :o). Xx

Edinburgh Christmas Markets are always gorgeous! I just got back from Copenhagen a couple of weeks ago and Christmas was in full swing there - it was just missing a little bit of snow! Fingers crossed we might get a white Christmas in the UK this year! :)
