HAPPY NEW YEAR!! Wishing you all a wonderful New Year full of love, success and happiness. I can't believe it's 2014 already but i always love the idea of a "fresh start" even though realistically everything will remain the same. John and i spent New Year with close (and new) friends in Edinburgh which was so lovely. First stop was Tempus bar on George street for a few gin & tonics before meeting friends later. Just before the bells we all
walked hop, skipped and jumped excitedly towards Bruntsfield Links to enjoy the last few minutes of 2013 and watch the beautiful fireworks display(s). After the midnight kisses and several (drunken and blurry) photos we sang Auld Lang Syne...admittedly not the best we've sung! For those of you who don't know this Scottish folk song have a listen via this link.
The following morning we woke late and took a stroll around Stockbridge and eventually settled on Hector's for a delicious burger to cure our hangovers. Definitely worth a visit if in Edinburgh and just a short walk from the city centre. After a lazy afternoon of napping and drinking chai lattes we met friends for dinner at Time 4 Thai. Located on North Castle street just off George street this little find will definitely be somewhere we will return to. I opted for chicken satay to start followed by their authentic thai green curry for my main which was very good. When we arrived back at the flat we couldn't resist watching the new Sherlock Holmes on iplayer... Have you seen it?
Yesterday John and i met my close friend Alice for breakfast (tea) at Eteaket. Such a cute and snug little place offering an incredible selection of lose leaf teas. They have won a number of awards and certainly deserve it. Will need to pay a visit next time as i can't wait to try their ROYAL G & TEA cocktail which sounds too good to be true.
Lastly we met my family late afternoon at Browns on George street to celebrate my Grandma's birthday. It was so sweet and we all had a wonderful time but for anyone listening who works there...it was so damn cold. I wore my coat and scarf throughout dinner...
What did you all get upto at Hogmany? I had a wonderful little trip away but now sadly it's time to get essay writing with three deadlines looming. EEK! All the best and speak soon
